Teeth Grinding & Clenching

Alleviate the symptoms of bruxism (teeth grinding), jaw clenching, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

  • Treatment can be administered into the masseter (jaw) muscle to relieve symptoms of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ) and Bruxism (excessive teeth grinding and clenching). In some cases, treatment to the temporalis (temple muscle) or trapezius (neck muscle) may be required for maximum treatment effect.

The treatment temporarily relieves tension in the muscle that causes pain, difficultly speaking, chewing, and swallowing. It can also alleviate headaches and prevents the involuntary movement of teeth grinding and clenching.

    • Treatments are tailored to individual needs

    • There are minimal risks and almost no downtime

    • Some effect is noticed 3-5 days after treatment, with results taking full effect at 2 weeks

    • Relief from pain and discomfort can last 3-6 months

    • bruxism effects about 8% of the population

    • stress and anxiety often contribute to grinding and clenching

    • some medication, such as SSRIs, can also contribute to symptoms

    • a lot of people grind their teeth in their sleep and so are unaware until they are told so by their dentist

    • grinding can cause wearing away of tooth enamel, gum sensitivity and chipped teeth
